Certified by Danielle Hayes, RYT 500 — Standards & Credentialing Manager, Yoga Alliance
In a city overflowing with yoga schools, choosing the right one shapes your entire experience. Here is the evidence-backed case for Mimamsa Yogshala.
We hold the highest Google rating (5.0 stars from 253+ reviews) among Rishikesh yoga schools while offering the most competitive pricing. Most schools with similar ratings charge $1,200–$2,900 for the same 200-hour program. Quality yoga education should not require a luxury budget.
Verified on Google ReviewsWhile commercial schools pack 30–50 students per batch, we deliberately cap at 15–20. This means Yogi Manoj and our 7 expert teachers personally correct your alignment, adjust your posture, and guide your practice. Every student gets individual attention — no one gets lost in the crowd.
Since 2015Our graduates from 45+ countries do not just earn a Yoga Alliance certificate — they leave with a genuine understanding of yoga philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodology. We combine traditional Hatha and Ashtanga with Pranayama, Meditation, Ayurveda, and Mantra Chanting for a complete yogic experience.

Yogi Manoj is the Founder and Director of Mimamsa Yogshala and the primary teacher for all yoga teacher training programmes. He has been immersed in yoga since childhood, guided first by his grandfather along the path of Karma Yoga before deepening his study of Bhakti Yoga and Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh. He is a certified yoga teacher from the prestigious Bihar School of Yoga — one of India's most respected institutions for traditional yogic education. His practice was further shaped by years of living and learning within communities of Swamis and Yogis in Rishikesh. Yogi Manoj specialises in Hatha Yoga, Alignment, and Adjustment, bringing a lineage-rooted, technically precise, and spiritually grounded approach to every class.
His teaching style is clear, patient, and deeply inspiring — a rare combination of traditional knowledge and genuine warmth.

At Mimamsa Yogshala, each batch is intentionally capped at 15 to 20 students. Unlike larger commercial yoga schools where a single teacher may be responsible for 40 or more students, our low teacher-to-student ratio means every practitioner receives direct, personalised feedback on their asana alignment, breathing technique, and teaching practice during every session. Teachers can observe individual postural patterns, identify misalignments before they become ingrained habits, and tailor adjustments to each student's unique body. For trainee teachers, this environment is especially valuable — you get real opportunities to practise teaching and receive structured, constructive feedback that builds genuine confidence.

Mimamsa Yogshala is situated in Ramjhula, one of the most spiritually alive and traditionally preserved neighbourhoods in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The school sits close to the banks of the Ganges, where the sounds of flowing river water and temple bells create a natural atmosphere of calm impossible to replicate in a city studio. Ramjhula is quiet enough to support intense early-morning sadhana — sessions typically begin before sunrise — yet connected enough to offer local markets, temples, and the living culture of a genuine ashram town. Being surrounded by practicing Swamis, the Ganges, and the Himalayan foothills reinforces every philosophical and meditative lesson taught inside the classroom. Students regularly cite the energy of Ramjhula itself as transformative.
Everything you need for a comfortable, focused training experience — included in your course fee

All course fees at Mimamsa Yogshala include full residential accommodation from check-in to check-out day. Choose between shared twin rooms, private rooms, or deluxe private rooms — each clean, comfortable, and within the school campus in Ramjhula. Rooms come with attached bathrooms, hot water, Wi-Fi access, clean bed linens, and daily housekeeping. The campus is steps from the Ganges river, surrounded by the sounds of temple bells and flowing water. Unlike many schools where accommodation is off-site, our rooms are in the same building as the yoga hall, so early-morning 6am sessions are just steps away. The peaceful environment ensures quality rest between intensive training sessions.

Three freshly prepared Sattvic vegetarian meals are served every day as part of your course fee. Sattvic food is the traditional yogic diet — free from meat, eggs, onion, garlic, and excessive spices — designed to support physical cleanliness, mental clarity, and spiritual awareness during intensive yoga practice. Breakfast includes fresh fruits, porridge, herbal tea, and traditional Indian preparations. Lunch and dinner feature a balanced thali with dal, rice, seasonal vegetables, roti, salad, and dessert. Clean filtered drinking water is available throughout the campus at all times. Our kitchen follows strict hygiene standards and can accommodate specific dietary needs when informed in advance. Many students describe the food at Mimamsa as one of the highlights of their training experience.

Common questions about yoga teacher training at Mimamsa Yogshala in Rishikesh
Can't find your answer? Ask us directly →To obtain a yoga teacher training certification in Rishikesh, India, you enrol in a Yoga Alliance-registered programme at a school that holds RYS (Registered Yoga School) status. At Mimamsa Yogshala, we offer 100-hour and 200-hour residential yoga teacher training courses that are fully registered with Yoga Alliance USA. The 200-hour programme is the internationally recognised foundation level and takes 28 days to complete. Subjects covered include Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, Meditation, Anatomy and Physiology, Yoga Philosophy, and Teaching Methodology. Upon successful completion of all attendance requirements, assessments, and practical teaching hours, graduates receive a Yoga Alliance-compliant certificate. This certificate allows you to register as an RYT 200 (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance, which is accepted by yoga studios and employers in most countries worldwide. The entire programme is residential, meaning accommodation and Sattvic meals are included in Rishikesh.
The foundational qualification required to teach yoga professionally is a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate that is registered with Yoga Alliance USA or an equivalent internationally recognised body. This credential is the global industry standard and confirms that the teacher has completed a minimum of 200 contact hours covering asana practice, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology, pranayama, meditation, and yoga philosophy. At Mimamsa Yogshala, our 200-hour YTTC is fully Yoga Alliance-registered (RYS 200), and graduates are eligible to apply for RYT 200 status immediately after completing the course. Beyond the foundational 200-hour qualification, teachers looking to specialise or deepen their knowledge can pursue a 300-hour advanced programme, which leads to RYT 500 status with Yoga Alliance. Additional complementary qualifications offered at Mimamsa Yogshala include sound healing therapy and specialised meditation courses, which broaden a teacher's ability to serve diverse student populations.
Yes, complete beginners are welcome to join a yoga teacher training programme, and this is in fact one of the most common situations at Mimamsa Yogshala. You do not need any prior experience with yoga, any particular level of flexibility, or any background in fitness to enrol. Our 100-hour and 200-hour courses are structured to begin from the absolute fundamentals — how to breathe correctly, how to enter and exit basic asanas safely, and what yoga actually means beyond the physical postures. The teaching team introduces concepts progressively, ensuring that newer students are never left behind while more experienced practitioners are given opportunities to go deeper. Each day combines theory sessions with guided practice, so understanding and physical ability develop together. Students with prior yoga experience will find the training deepens and refines what they already know. Whether you are starting your yoga journey or looking to formalise years of personal practice into a teaching qualification, the training accommodates all levels.
To become a certified yoga instructor in India, the clearest pathway is to complete a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course at a school registered with Yoga Alliance USA. Rishikesh is the most established destination for this training globally, and Mimamsa Yogshala in Ramjhula, Rishikesh offers both 100-hour and 200-hour programmes registered under Yoga Alliance's RYS framework. The 28-day residential 200-hour programme covers all required Yoga Alliance contact hours across the five core curricular categories: techniques, training and practice; teaching methodology; anatomy and physiology; yoga philosophy, lifestyle and ethics; and practicum. Upon graduation you receive a certificate that enables you to register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance, the credential recognised by yoga studios, gyms, and wellness centres worldwide. The residential format — which includes accommodation, Sattvic meals, and immersive daily practice from morning to evening — accelerates learning in a way that part-time study cannot replicate.
The cost of yoga teacher training in Rishikesh depends on the programme length, school reputation, and what is included in the fee. At Mimamsa Yogshala, the 200-hour YTTC is priced between $545 and $1,263 depending on the accommodation type — shared room, private room, or deluxe private — and the season. The 100-hour course starts from $395. All fees are fully residential and cover accommodation, three Sattvic vegetarian meals per day, course materials, and the Yoga Alliance graduation certificate. There are no hidden charges. Compared with equivalent courses in Western countries, which routinely cost $2,500 to $5,000 for a non-residential programme, Rishikesh represents outstanding value without compromising on teaching quality. We recommend booking at least two to three months in advance to secure your preferred batch dates and accommodation category, as course sizes are deliberately kept small to ensure personal attention from every teacher.
A typical day at Mimamsa Yogshala begins with a 6:00 am Shatkarma cleansing practice followed by a two-hour Hatha or Ashtanga Vinyasa session on the rooftop overlooking the Ganges. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am. The morning academic block from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm covers Anatomy and Physiology, Yoga Philosophy, or Teaching Methodology depending on the day's schedule. After lunch and a short rest period, the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm focuses on Pranayama and Meditation. The late afternoon block from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm is dedicated to teaching practicum where students progressively take the role of teacher under supervision. Dinner is at 7:00 pm, followed by optional evening Kirtan or self-study. Sundays are partially free to explore Rishikesh, visit temples, or rest. The structure is intensive but builds steadily over 28 days, giving the body and mind time to adapt.
Yes, at Mimamsa Yogshala all course fees are fully residential. Accommodation and three Sattvic vegetarian meals per day are included from the day of check-in to the day of check-out. Students choose between shared twin-occupancy rooms, private rooms, and deluxe private rooms when booking, and the course price adjusts accordingly. Sattvic food is a yogic diet free from meat, eggs, onion, garlic, and excessive spices — prepared fresh each day to support the cleansing and energetic requirements of intensive yoga practice. Clean filtered drinking water is available throughout the campus at all times. Laundry facilities are also available on-site. The all-inclusive format means you can arrive in Rishikesh with a single budget figure and not worry about daily food costs or sourcing suitable accommodation near the school. The only additional personal expenses are local travel, visa fees, international flights, and any excursions you choose to do on your free days.
Rishikesh is widely considered one of the safest destinations in India for solo female travellers, and this is consistently reflected in feedback from our graduates. The town's identity as a pilgrimage and yoga centre creates a relatively respectful and spiritually oriented atmosphere compared with many other Indian cities. The Ramjhula and Laxman Jhula areas — where Mimamsa Yogshala is located — are pedestrian-friendly, well-lit, and filled with international visitors year-round. At the school itself, the residential campus provides a secure environment with a consistent community of fellow students and teaching staff around you at all times. Sensible precautions apply as in any travel destination: dress modestly in public areas, avoid isolated riverbanks after dark, and use reputable transport options for inter-city travel. Many of our students are solo female travellers from Europe, North America, and Australia, and the vast majority report feeling comfortable and welcomed throughout their stay in Rishikesh.
Yes, most international students require a visa to enter India for yoga teacher training. The most straightforward option for most nationalities is the e-Visa (Tourist), which is available online through the Indian government's official e-Visa portal and allows stays of up to 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days depending on the nationality and visa tier selected. Citizens of over 160 countries are currently eligible for the Indian e-Visa. For the 28-day 200-hour programme, a 30-day or 60-day tourist e-Visa is typically sufficient. Applications open up to four days before travel and are usually approved within two to four business days, though we recommend applying at least two weeks in advance to avoid delays. Students planning to continue with a 300-hour or 500-hour programme should apply for a longer-duration visa. Mimamsa Yogshala provides an official enrolment letter that some consulates request as part of the visa application process. Always verify the current requirements for your specific nationality through your country's Indian embassy website.
Yes. Upon completing the 200-hour YTTC at Mimamsa Yogshala, you receive a Yoga Alliance-compliant graduation certificate that qualifies you to register as an RYT 200 (Registered Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance USA. This is the globally recognised teaching credential accepted by yoga studios, gyms, wellness retreats, and corporate wellness programmes across North America, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. In many countries — including the USA, UK, and Australia — no government teaching licence is required to teach yoga; studios simply require the Yoga Alliance RYT 200 credential for insurance purposes. Some countries with national yoga certification bodies, such as Germany and France, may have additional local registration steps, but the Yoga Alliance certificate is universally accepted as the foundational qualification. You can also register your certificate with Yoga Alliance India, recognised by the Ministry of AYUSH, if you plan to teach within India. Graduates are typically able to begin teaching within weeks of completing the course.
Mimamsa Yogshala runs yoga teacher training courses throughout the year with new batches starting every month. The 200-hour YTTC batches begin on fixed calendar dates — typically the 1st and 15th of each month — while 100-hour courses begin on the 1st of each month. The most popular months for international students are October through March, when Rishikesh's climate is cool and dry, making daily yoga practice and outdoor activities most comfortable. April and May are also popular before the monsoon season arrives in June. July and August are the Himalayan monsoon months — training continues indoors and the experience carries its own quiet intensity with fewer students and lush green surroundings. To join a specific batch, a deposit is required to confirm your seat, as class sizes are deliberately capped to maintain quality. You can view current batch dates and availability on our course pages and submit an inquiry to receive the detailed schedule for your preferred month.
