If the diet isn't proper, then medicine has no value. If the diet is correct, medicine is not needed.
Ayurvedic Proverb

Consuming the right food is a crucial aspect of a healthy lifestyle. Many believe that doing yoga is enough and that they do not need to control their diet. We at Rishikesh, the yoga instructor training centre, consider yoga to be more than just a form of exercise for our body and mind, but an attitude of living. Yoga, along with healthy eating habits, can boost the benefits you reap from taking yoga.

The food we consume isn't just to maintain our physical health but also to maintain good mental well-being. How food is classified in the yoga world, differ from science? Instead of categorizing food into carbohydrates, proteins, or fast food, the food considered yogic is classified as Satva, Rajas and Tamas. Tamasic foods make us feel lazy. Rajasic food can make you active and cause tension, whereas sattvic makes you feel energized, enthusiastic and lighter.

Our staff here at Rishikesh Yoga Teacher Training Centre are focused on the well-being of our students. As such, every student is required to adhere to the sattvic lifestyle during their time at the Ashram. Sattvic diets help cleanse the body and relax the mind.

Our Mimamsa Yogshaala Chef created the menu with many years of experience working in hotels with five stars across the globe. Chef Karamyogi has extensive knowledge of the sattvic diet.

He is focused on the sanitation of food preparation to ensure it doesn't diminish its nutritional value, which is vital to lead a healthy and happy life.

Ingestion of too much or much food can lead to problems, even if you're eating healthy foods. Excess eating can lead to lethargy and fatigue while eating less than you require will not provide enough energy to get through your daily activities.

We may know our stomachs are full, but we still consume more simply because we like the flavour. It is impossible to determine the correct amount of food a person requires by using scales and other measurement methods since each person requires the right amount of food to perform at a high level. Therefore, we need to pay attention to our body's signals when it tells us to stop eating.

It is believed that the mind of the person who is cooking and eating also influences the food. The energy of food prepared by someone when angry will undoubtedly be lower than those who cook it with a sense of happiness, joy, and appreciation.

A soothing tune or chanting while cooking or eating can help preserve the Prana (life energy force) present in food. We highly recommend considering the food we eat, as the oldest Indian texts state that we are the food we consume!
